With spring here and summer right on our coattails, it’s time you get your plans ironed out for upcoming email marketing.

1 – take your layout and design up a notch

2 – get gif crazy

Moment is a company that enables users to take better pictures and videos on mobile phones. Its March email marketing campaign has us in knots – in the best of ways. Using gifs in email marketing is nothing new, but the way Moment includes them is unique and eye-catching. The email is all about how to better edit photos on a mobile phone and the gifs are used to illustrate the tips. Users can easily understand the information and visualize how things are done. The best part, though, is the email ends on a cliffhanger of sorts, urging openers to see what the last tips are by clicking through.

3 – go with simple

Showing off your product or service is the #1 way to increase revenue, right? But there’s a way to do it better than everyone else. FontExplorer X, a font organization software, packs its email with a ton of information without using long, droning paragraphs. The email simply states what the brand does, shows an example of how its product benefits the user, and ends with a quick explanation of how the product works and a CTA button.

4 – don’t be afraid to be punny

Who doesn’t love a good pun? Well, Cotton Bureau, the T-shirt design company, apparently loves puns. So much so, it sent out an email endorsing its very first pun contest. The first thing subscribers see is the subject line, and this one captures attention. The neon colors and Top Gun pun are the first to hit an opener’s eye. And while the email does seem a little wordy at first glance, everything in the message is essential information subscribers need for the tournament. Plus, the many examples displayed keep the subscriber interested. We spent a full 10 minutes looking at this email!

5 – consider your template

Alright, so tea isn’t for everyone, but promoting new products in a creative and exciting way is for everyone. Fortnum & Mason is a tea, coffee and gift seller based in the UK. Its email promoting two new types of tea was laid out to display each type of tea to its best advantage. Each section was cleanly separated, yet flowed together well, and displayed each piece of information to its best advantage.
