When it comes to our layout editor, we aim for functionality and simplicity. Building an email template shouldn’t be time consuming and shouldn’t require expert knowledge in coding and design. That’s why our editor comes pre-loaded will free fully-responsive themes and features drag-and-drop capabilities. Even if you don’t have any experience in HTML, our platform allows you to create quickly create complex email messages that are on brand and always look great.

(Marketers can get an in-depth look at our layout editor in the WhatCounts learning center here.)

Version 12.13 updates include:

  • Easier image uploading. Upload images to the Media Manager directly from the Layout Editor, right into the folder you want to house them in.
  • Additional modules. We’ve added text only content blocks and a variety of spacer modules so you have more flexibility in your content layouts.
  • Easier variable tagging. Easily access and insert custom tags directly from the WYSIWYG.

We’ve made it easy to personalize your messaging. We talk often about how personalization is a big key to standing out to your subscribers, and utilizing tags is a great way to craft a message unique to individual subscribers.

tags

As a refresher, tags are pieces of code that are linked to information in a marketer’s customer database. When a tag is placed in an email, that information will display (ex: %%$first%% would display a subscriber’s first name in the message). Leveraging tags in messages is a great way to personalize them, and make them really stand out to subscribers and customers.

Inserting tags is incredibly easy in the WhatCounts platform, and all tagging options are accessed via the Tag button on the WYSIWYG toolbar.

theme updates

Additionally, our creative team gave the free themes in the platform an audit to bring them up to best practices. Updates include:

  • Hero images expand 100% on mobile devices
  • Editor has been optimized for Outlook and Apple email clients
  • CSS updates
  • Improved stacking method
  • Meta tags updated to current standards
  • Yahoo centering fix on all modules

It’s our hope that these changes will optimize our users’ experiences when working in our layout editor. Again you can learn more about the layout editor in our learning center. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to contact your account manager or support@whatcounts.com.
