Inspired Emails from Creative Spirits

To get you in both the Halloween and creative mood, today we’re going to discuss the spirit of inspiration and how truly great work comes to be. How do you continue to craft imaginative, unique emails time and time again? It all comes down to honing your craft and your approach to being creative.

In ancient Greece, ‘genius’ was not something that emanated from human beings. Rather, it was said to be a mysterious spirit that actually lived in the walls of an artist’s studio and inspired the artist to complete their work. People didn’t go around and say ‘Wow. He is a creative genius’ they said things like ‘Wow. He has a great genius.’ This just goes to show that it all boils down to how you look at what creativity means to you.

I believe that all people are creative, but some appease the creative spirits more than others. In turn, they are granted moments of great creative genius. These appeasers make offerings to the creative spirits by following best practices, studying their craft, thinking outside the box, questioning existing creative, practicing their skills, and always continuing to grow. The more things you do to satisfy the creative spirits, the more often they will visit you and grant you with the ability to pull off a creative masterpiece.

Have you ever produced something and said to yourself, “Wow, where did that come from?” The answer: creative spirits. How else would you explain it? How does a filmmaker create a masterpiece one summer and then create the worst movie ever the next? It happens all of the time. Some people choose to not pay the creative spirits, either in time, practice, or effort.
